    SPEED LEARNING FORMATS

    E-Writing helps everyone
    write better and read faster.

    E-Writing is the process
    of breaking up language
    into meaningful parts.

    It is like
    diagramming a sentence,
    but without the rules
    and fancy labels.

    One thought or phrase
    on each line.

    Language skills will improve
    without the need
    to memorize terminology.

    Students learn sentence parts
    from trying to find
    the best way
    to break up a sentence.

    CLASSROOM EXERCISE:

    Give students
    a chapter of a book
    to E-Write.

    They can use any
    word processing software
    to break up the text
    according to the
    E-Writing guidelines.

    Test their reading speed
    before and after e-writing.

    Test their comprehension
    before and after e-writing.

    Our electronic recordings provide
    high-rate input.
    ------------------------

    Peterson Reading inputs
    at the rate of
    10,000 to 12,000
    words per hour.

    4,000 to 5000
    phrases per hour.

    500 hours of input
    equals 5 million words
    equals 2 million phrases.
    -------------------

    RATE OF AUDITORY INPUT

    Oral input to infants
    can include serveral dozen
    to several hundred
    new phrases per day.
    -------------------------------

    Q.
    Why do so many persons
    claim that the brain
    learns more slowly
    after the first few months
    or age two?

    A.
    THE RATE OF
    ORAL INPUT SLOWS

    Here are some
    possible reasons why:

    1.
    Child becomes
    less dependent on parent.

    2.
    Child learns
    to crawl and walk away.

    3.
    Parents reduce
    the time they
    hold the child.

    4.
    Child has less contact
    with parents and phrases.

    5.
    Parent returns
    to older children.

    6.
    Parent may have
    another baby.

    7.
    Parent returns to work.

    Any of the above
    can make
    the learning rate
    drop precipitously.

  • 3-3-3 INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Listen to the audio 3 times
    and fill in memory triggers.

    2. Tell-back between partners
    1.5 minutes each.

    3. Fast-write on the back of the test
    for 3 minutes.

    Definitions:

    Memory Triggers
    are words or phrases
    from the text passage
    you have just heard.

    Fill in the space next
    to the memory triggers
    with related words
    or complete the sentence.

The goal is to fill the space
    with as much information
    and writing as possible.

    Older students may only need
    to quickly re-scan the passage
    for the information.

    Younger students can connect
    the sentence and memory trigger
    with a line and copy
    the rest of the words
    in the space provided.

    Tell-backs are done
    between partners.

    One partner tells back
    the information they learned
    from the passage
    while the other takes notes
    or continues filling
    in memory triggers.

    When the time is up
    they switch
    and the other student
    tells back.

    If students run out
    of things to say
    before the time is up
    they can start over
    or read from their papers.

    Fast-writes are writing a story
    or summary of the text
    in complete sentences
    from the Memory Trigger phrases.

    Younger students
    who cannot write
    can trace the words,
    copy the words
    or draw a picture
    that tells the story.

    The goal is
    to keep the pen moving
    and to fill the page.

    EDUCANDO TU CEREBRO

    PRUEBA 333

    1. Escuchar sonido 3 veces
    y llenar el espacio
    de las pautas de memoria.

    2. Relatar la historia entre compañeros durante 1.5 minutos cada uno.

    3. Escribir rápidamente en el reverso de la prueba durante 3 minutos.

    Definiciones:

Memory triggers son palabras o frases del texto que se acaba de oír.

    Llenar el espacio existente
junto a las pautas de memoria
    con palabras relacionadas
    o completar la oración.

La meta es llenar el espacio con la mayor cantidad de información escrita
    posible.

    Los estudiantes de mayor edad
    sólo podrían necesitar
    un rápida revisión del pasaje.

    Los estudiantes de menor edad
    pueden conectar la oración
    y las pautas de memoria
    con una línea,
y copiar el resto de las palabras
    en el espacio provisto.

    El relato debe hacerse entre
    compañeros.

Uno de ellos repite la información
    aprendida del pasaje,
    mientras el otro toma notas
    o continúa llenando información.

    Cuando el tiempo termina
    los estudiantes cambian los roles
    y continúa el otro estudiante.

Si los estudiantes ya no tienen
    nada que decir
    antes de completar el tiempo,
pueden volver a empezar el ejercicio o
    leer de sus hojas.

    Los fast-writes consisten
    en escribir la historia
    o resumirla del texto
    en oraciones completas
de las phrases de Memory Triggers.

    Los estudiantes de menor edad
    que no pueden escribir
    pueden repasar las palabras,
    copiar las palabras
    o hacer algún dibujo
    relacionado con la historia.

La meta es mantener el lápiz
    en movimiento
    para llenar la página.
